The Montana Department of Transportation announced that it will be constructing passing lanes on Highway 16 at the current construction site between the 19 mile marker and the 25 mile marker. District Administrator Shane Mintz said the change order was authorized this week and that the contractor was proceeding with the work immediately. A decision has been made to modify the process of dispersing the capital credit retirement checks to consumers. In the past LYREA has always handed the checks out during the annual meeting. The annual requirement of reporting to the FSA office can be referred to as crop reporting, acreage reporting, or crop certification. Acreage reports are required to be filed by any producer requesting payments. This includes DCP, ACRE, NAP, CRP, LDP and SURE. Sidney is home to a unique program called “The Flags of Honor” which originated in 1965. This program originally began as a community effort with members of 13 civic organizations who made the decision to ask members of the community to donate any casket flags from deceased veterans. The organizers were able to obtain 83 flags for the first Memorial Day parade in 1966. The number of unbuckled fatalities is on the rise.
