    Watford City’s annual Homefest offers a jam-packed weekend of events in downtown Watford City that will appeal to all ages. Homefest, a “welcome home” for returning natives and a “welcome” to new residents, will kick off on Friday, June 23rd.   • Sunrise Festival to Feature Unique Art Classes

    This year’s Sunrise Festival of the Arts will feature three unique art classes available to the public. From 11:30 to 12:30, learn to make colorful fused glass wind chimes with Jessica Newman, Education Coordinator at the MonDak Heritage Center. During the class, participants will choose, place and glue sections of colored glass to form the chime tubes. The tubes will be fired in a kiln and available for pickup in a week.     Watford City's Nick Ybarra has managed to turn his passion for mountain biking into a career as a race director and the director of a local non-profit. Ybarra, a Bismarck native, moved to Watford City with his wife in 2008. The couple shared a passion for mountain biking, and spent many rides together on the Maah Daah Hey Trail, located between Watford City and Medora. The Mudder’s organizers, the Save the Maah Daah Hey Trail non-profit in conjunction with the Teddy Roosevelt Medora Foundation, have taken advantage of the natural challenge of the North Dakota Badlands to set up a 3-mile loop course inspired by Theodore Roosevelt’s daily trek.     Sarah Petrik has nearly three years in the books managing Sidney's vehicle rentals, and she and her husband, Mike, are excited to now call the business their own.     The Richland County Sanitarian’s Office will be handing out drinking water test kits at the Trashy Tuesday event on Tuesday, July 16th. Owners of private drinking water wells are encouraged to test their well for the presence or absence of coliform bacteria regularly.
