The Sidney Eagle varsity golf team hosted the top ranked team in the state, the Laurel Locomotives, for a dual on Thursday, Sept. 12. Due to lightning, thunder, rain, and winds the players were called off the course twice, and therefore play was suspended for the day. Only two Sidney players were able to finish all 18 holes. A benefit is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14 to help support Kevin Kringen, a Sidney native, as he battles glioblastoma, a rare and incurable brain cancer for Saturday, Sept. 14. Diagnosed in late May, 2024, Kevin has undergone surgery and is now receiving chemo and radiation treatments in hopes of spending more precious time with his family. The Sidney community gathered together to support Sidney native Larry Lynde on Saturday, Sept. 9, who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. The benefit started out with a four-person golf scramble and culminated with a supper, silent auction and live auction hosted by the Sidney Elks Club.
