  • The Sherry Arnold Walking/Bike Path Valuable Asset to the Community

    Meagan Dotson|Jul 20, 2016

One of my favorite things to do during the summer is to take family bike rides. About five years ago our family was looking for something to replace our winter-time game night and so we began taking our kids and dog to the walking path. We had recently moved alongside Hwy 16 and no longer had...

  • Going Back In Time

    Meagan Dotson|Jun 22, 2016

In a fast-paced society, slowing down and reminiscing can be an overlooked past-time. But every so often we have a reason to do exactly that and if you are getting together for a 50-year class reunion, or celebrating 50 years of anything, really, here are a few forgotten facts to entertain you. In 1966 Lyndon B. Johnson was president of the United States and signed the Freedom of Information Act in October; who could've guessed the magnitude that would have years later! All across the nation,...

  • Enjoy Family Vacation Fun

    Meagan Dotson|Jun 15, 2016

Last summer I planned a trip to neighboring North Dakota and honestly felt a bit ashamed of myself for not having an adventure in this legendary state sooner. Better late than never I suppose, but I can say it was one of our best vacations and we will be returning to do some camping this summer. We spent part of our first day in Medora, checking out the unique little tourist town, filling up on delicious food, and doing a little shopping. This is home to the well-known Medora Musical and...

For more than 100 years, Richland County has been fortunate to have dedicated individuals who are willing to sacrifice their time and safety as volunteer firefighters. Because the county operates with a volunteer fire department, the city and county can invest money into fire equipment; there are currently two full-time city trucks, one truck that serves both the city and the county, and seven county firetrucks. During the last three years, the fire department has been fundraising toward a goal...

  • Sundheim Park Offers Nature, History

    Meagan Dotson|Jun 8, 2016

Sundheim Park is always one of my top recommendations to people looking to spend some time outdoors. Having grown up in the area, the Fairview Bridge was enchanting to me in my teenage years because of its enormity and preserved state. Back in those days, you had to go tie hopping and I distinctly remember the rush as I crossed the entire 1,320' expanse; 100' above the water, my heart would start pounding being so high up, but I would make myself stop and look around at how small everything...
