The Sidney Area Dollars for Scholars Board wants to extend a huge thank you to the community for their generous support shown during the 2024 phonathon. Last January, the high school students spent two nights calling the community for financial support for the scholarship fund for graduating seniors. We are proud to announce that we have collected $28,790 which allowed us to offer 45 scholarships to the class of 2024 totaling $66,300. The Sidney Area Dollars for Scholars program has been assisting graduates of Sidney High School with scholarships since its inception in 1991. The key organizer of this chapter was Paul Johnson. Our chapter has awarded scholarships to 1,001 students totaling $607,150. In 1992, student scholarship amounts were $300. Through the generous support of community members leaving endowment gifts, as well as yearly phonathon donations, the scholarship amounts have grown to average over $1,300.
